Exelus Extended (3yr) Mail-In Warranty for Crown Laptops

Exelus warrants to the user that this Crown notebook computer will be free from defects in materials and workmanship for a period of three (3) years from the date of invoice. This warranty applies to the components comprising the notebook system, including: CPU, motherboard, memory, hard drive, floppy drive, cd-rom, dvd-rom, cd-rw, cd-rw/dvd combination drive, notebook case, power supply, battery (batteries are consumable items and are covered for one (1) year only) and other standard notebook components which are offered in our online configurators (not including any accessories). Peripheral devices including: monitors, scanners, speaker sets, external drives, backup media, external keyboards, mice, power protection devices and any other external devices that can be connected to the notebook and are sold as separate options and are covered under their respective manufacturer’s warranties, not this warranty. All component items not normally carried and offered for sale by Crown or otherwise identified as "special" or “custom” ordered goods are covered under their respective manufacturer's warranties, not this warranty

User is required to: (1) operate the equipment in an environment meeting the manufacturer’s specifications; (2) protect the supply of electricity to the equipment through the use of appropriate surge protection devices; (3) comply with the manufacturer’s operating manual; (4) permit no work on the equipment except by a qualified service provider authorized by Exelus; (5) print out or make note of any error or diagnostic messages when experiencing hardware difficulties and communicate it to an authorized service representative when requesting service or replacement.

Exelus will repair or replace, at the option of Exelus, any Equipment having a defect in material or workmanship. All replacement parts shall be provided by Exelus at no cost to customer. Circumstances may require the reloading of the operating system as originally installed by Crown. Replacement parts are new or like-new (tested equivalent to new). Exelus may provide replacement parts made by various manufacturers when supplying parts to User. All replacement parts shall also be covered under this Warranty for the remainder of the Service Plan Period or thirty (30) days (whichever is longer). Exelus warrants that replacement parts will be interchangeable with the parts they are to replace, and will conform to the specifications current when they are shipped. Some problems or defects may require Exelus or Customer to reformat or replace a hard disk drive. Under such circumstances, all data on the disk drive may be lost. Customer is solely responsible for the security of data. Exelus shall not be liable for the loss or destruction of data or media resulting from a defect in materials or workmanship covered by this Warranty. Exelus strongly advises Customer/User to implement and maintain a daily routine to backup data to minimize the loss of data in the event of Equipment failure. Customers are required to return all replaced and/or unused components including Hard Disk Drives. Customers that intend to keep a failed Hard Disk Drive to attempt data recovery or protect the data must make arrangements to purchase a replacement Hard Disk Drive prior to the service incident. Exelus will not accept the failed Hard Disk Drive after the service incident has been closed.

This warranty is a limited warranty. As the sole remedy for a breach of this warranty, Exelus will, at its discretion, repair or replace defective components with components of equivalent or better performance during the warranty period. Exelus will restore the system unit to its original operating configuration at no additional cost when the system unit is delivered freight prepaid to Exelus within ten (10) days of an Exelus issued Return Material Authorization (RMA). Notebook Computers or components sent to Exelus without a valid/live RMA number clearly marked on the shipping label will not be accepted. RMA numbers are available from the Crown Technical Services 24/7 toll-free telephone line, 888-551-5585.

Exelus will complete warranty service within a period of five (5) business days from date of receipt. Exelus will return the unit to the user freight prepaid in like manner as received (overnight = overnight) if user has a return address in the 50 states within the U.S.A.. Exelus WILL NOT SHIP TO ADDRESSES OUTSIDE OF THE United States of America (other than APO/FPO addresses). For APO/FPO addresses you will pay the shipping and insurance both ways. Component failures that have, in the sole opinion of Exelus, failed because of damage caused by accident, misuse, mishandling, misapplication, lack of proper maintenance or act of God/nature, are not covered by this warranty.

EXELUS IS NOT LIABLE FOR AND SPECIFICALLY DISCLAIMS ANY INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL, DIRECT OR INDIRECT, STATUTORY, PUNITIVE OR EXEMPLARY DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOST PROFTIS OR LOSS OF USE, BASED ON ANY LEGAL THEORY, OR FOR ANY SOFTWARE OR DATA THAT MAY BE LOST DUE TO HARDWARE FAILURE OR SERVICING IN ACCORDANCE WITH THIS WARRANTY.

In order to take advantage of this warranty, the user must provide a valid proof of warranty purchase. Hardware additions, software not preinstalled by Crown, upgrades, modifications, or configuration changes not authorized by Exelus are not covered by this warranty.

EXCEPT FOR THE WARRANTIES SET FORTH HEREIN, EXELUS DISCLAIMS ALL OTHER WARRANTIES EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE OR ANY WARRANTIES ARISING FROM A COURSE OF DEALING, USAGE, OR TRADE. ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES THAT MAY BE IMPOSED BY APPLICABLE LAW ARE LIMITED TO THE DURATION OF THIS LIMITED WARRANTY.

This warranty gives you specific legal rights which may vary from state to state.
