|
|
Hey guys, my laptop's working fine ever since I bought it from here but...
I've got a IRQ conflict with my soundcard (Realtek A'C97) and my video card (Mobility Radeon 9000). I've heard it's impossible to change my IRQ #, but is there anyway I can change this? When I play my games, they have a obvious and sometimes unplayable slowdown at different times which is just unacceptable.
What's odd is that since it's impossible to change the IRQ #, HOW did they ever change in the first place?! (this problem has just recently surfaced)
I'm pretty sure it's a IRQ conflict, anyway, because when I disable my sound card, my game runs much smoother (mainly in the 3-D tactical battles in Medieval: TW). I checked the resource tab on both the audio and video drive and they both have the value # 10, so that means they're using the same IRQ, right? Does anyone have any idea to fix this? |

DavidTheDuke, you should be able to right-click on My Computer, click properties; under Hardware - click on Device Manager; right click on the Mobility Radeon 9000 (under Display Adapters) and click on properties. Under Resources, click the menu next to "Setting based on:" The default will most likely be "Current Configuration." Change to one of the the other settings until you find one that does not conflict. You may hve to do this with the sound card instead until you find a setting that's free of conflicts. By the way, these steps are for Windows 2000 but should be similiar if you have XP. Hope this helps! _________________ NP5680, 15" Wide Angles LCD, Pentium 4 3.0GHz w/HT, 1GB DDR RAM, 128MB ATI 9600P, 40GB ATA-100 HDD, DVD/CD-RW, 24x CD-ROM, 802.11b Integrated Wireless |

| It claims to have no conflicts, but when turn off/disable the sound card, my games gain back their speed... It may not be any IRQ problem at all (I couldn't change the setting under the Resources tab on either driver/device)... I'm pretty sure I've isolated the problem to the point that it's directly related to if the hardware is used on the soundcard, because when I turn it to ONLY emulate the card, the games run well again. Thanks for the tip, but XP claims to have no conflicts - maybe it's right. I'm just pretty sure this has to at least be related to the sound card or driver (I've updated the driver, too... no luck) |

Well, it might be time to call the tech support boys. _________________ NP5680, 15" Wide Angles LCD, Pentium 4 3.0GHz w/HT, 1GB DDR RAM, 128MB ATI 9600P, 40GB ATA-100 HDD, DVD/CD-RW, 24x CD-ROM, 802.11b Integrated Wireless |
